Scientific Background
Founded in 1968, the Plasma Chemistry Group at the University of Bari is the oldest in Europe and it is a reference in plasma-assisted surface engineering. For over 30 years, it was led by Prof. Riccardo d’Agostino—a pioneer in the field of Plasma Technology. Today, the group brings together researchers from the University and the CNR and it is internationally recognized for its contributions to plasma chemistry in materials science.
The scientific and technical Team at Plasmapps comes directly from this group, carrying decades of expertise and hands-on experience in advanced plasma technologies.
From Research to Industry
In 2012, Plasmapps Srl was founded as a direct evolution of long-standing collaborations between academia and industry, transforming advanced plasma research into custom industrial solutions. The scientific and technical background ensures a rigorous, research-driven approach to innovation, with a strong foundation in plasma chemistry, surface engineering, and materials science.
Imagine new materials. Now make them real—with Plasmapps.
A new division of Plasmapps
Renasco was founded within the Plasmapps ecosystem, specializing in the surface functionalization of laboratory consumables through cold plasma technology — with applications in cell culture, diagnostics, clinical research, and cell biology — and in nanoparticle characterization through our nanoparticle screening chip collectors.
Our nanoparticle screening chip collectors are based on a method developed at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission, which was proposed and adopted as OECD Test Guideline 126 and validated through a multi-laboratory international comparison. Renasco uses this technology under a licensing agreement with the JRC, supporting applications in nanoparticle characterization, nanosafety assessment, and regulatory testing.
